Remix Discussion

TweakerRay [FiXT] :

I agree with Clarck Cunt here: A little more variation would have helped to make this mix more "rockin" ;-D

The long intro is also a little bit disturbing to me because as a listener you have to wait a long time till the mix really takes you away.
Also much Lowend is here I think this makes the mix sometimes a little bit "muddy"

3/5 Stars from me.

Good Luck to you

Andrew MAze :

Hey man, cheers for such cool comments about my remix. Sorry for some delay with the reply, was a lil bit busy, had no time to answer.

So what about your remix:
I really like the intro idea (first few seconds when beat comes out). Beats are very smooth and nice but it lack a lil piece of aggression since this is DnB. Long intro "development" is the thing you should avoid probably, because any good track must take people's attention and lead it in some directions people don't expect. So try to change beat/melody/backgrounds any 20 seconds or so.
Another thing that usualy helps is that musician should consider any track as pop-oriented track (with such elements as intro, verse, chorus [even without a vocal] and outro) regardless of the fact that any electronic style is usualy more repetitive than any radio-friendly pop track.
And one more thing, don't consider making remix as "making the remix" (sorry for such a pun:). Try to consider making remix as making absolutely brand new composition just using some audio files you already have. But don't think of 'em as a base for the new track, just consider it as some additions to it.

Don't wanna seem irritating, but I decided to write all the ideas (which are probably trite:) that came up in my mind plus it was you who asked about my opinion:P

With best wishes,
Andrew;)

Good sound. I think maybe 1:32 is a little too long to wait to get into it - your drum hits at the beginning point to a different kind of build, like Surge pointed out. It's kind of funny, I habitually start out mixing a track with a l-o-n-g and epic intro, and then at some point I always end up cutting it way down. So it's only my opinion. But thanks for this mix, I look forward to hearing your next one. (And thanks for your comment on my mix, I appreciate it!)

RYLE :

sounds good man..

clarck has some pretty good feedback here.. i agree with pretty much all of it..

surge's point about midi composition is a huge aspect in the remix game as well..

best wishes!

Surge :

Not bad. Not bad.

I was expecting a jump into some energetic dNb after 16 bars. It was a little too ambient in the intro.

And I'm not trying to be Mr. Right. But overusage of an obvious remix stem is one of my pet peeves that clicks my nerves (and in this case, it was the synth).

See if you can bring in more MIDI plays and some original composition, and you're sure to get at least 4 stars.

Godspeed.

Clarck Cunt :

Like I said man, the arrangement needs a bit spicing up. Listening to your mix makes me feel like you've made a few loops and then sequenced them to a whole.
I love Drum n' Bass, whenever I DJ that's the style I like to represent. Over the years I've gotten used to the trickery producers like Evol Intent, Current Value, Dylan, Rayden and Baron contribute to the scene (check out the Tech Itch label for reference, but I'm sure you've heard about them)
So I've gotten used to so much tricks, stuttering, triggers and glitches. Compared to what I'm used to your mix sounded a bit too ordinary for my taste. Not much happening in the arrangement section. But once again, that's my opinion. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. It's just how I experience your remix. I hope this clarifies man. Best of luck to you bro.

Cheers,

C.C.

Hey! Thanks for checking out my remix man. I appreciate it. I hope you rated it :) Checked out yours. Rated it 3/5, decent sounding mix I'll give you that. But I'm missing variation in the arrangement section to keep things spicey enough. But obviously that's my opinion ;)
