FiXT Remix

A few quick site updates we thought everyone should see and judge.  Meaning we want your input. 

A list of artists wasn't ideal, so was we transition from the old to the new we've included a sneak peak of some of our ideas.  Tell us what you want to see.  What would help you browse more easily.  Highest rated mixes?  Top rated artists?  A comments feed?  Let us know.  

 We're also putting these little twitter widgets on the artist and remix pages so you can see how many times we've tweeted about you or your mix.

Got a couple pretty sizable updates to share.  I know you've all been patiently awaiting a better way to browse mixes, and I'm sure some of you have noticed that over the past few days we've been adding small updates one at a time that made things easer, but I think we're at the point where we can unveil it as one big update... 

1. You don't have to click into mixes to listen to them anymore... players on the mix blocks (you can still click in to download the mix)

2. Rate the mixes on the contest page!  - Please be sure to rate mixes.  This is the only way you can voice your opinion as we try to choose the best of the best and narrow down a top 20.

3.  Sort mixes by artist name, rating, and date added.  Click it twice to reverse the order.

4.  Remix blocks show 20 @ a time.  Page loads = shorter and you can browse in a more organized fashion.

What's next Luke you might ask?  

Let me tell you:

• Random mix browsing - should make things spicy.  
• Genre Browsing.
• Top rated charts site wide - not contest specific
• User->User messaging (anything specific you've seen other places you may want to see here? - let us know!)

There's some pretty cool stuff in the hopper.  Keep the mixes coming.  

I promised that I would deliver one more update before the end of the night in an earlier post... and although I think that only three people would have noticed... I'm a man of my word.  The contest pages were a bit long and hard to navigate, so we broke it up into tabs.  This way you can easily bounce between rules, remixes, and comments with minimal scrolling.  Check it out:

About This Artist:

As we are hoping to host more non-FiXT contests in the near future we thought it would be nice if everyone could quickly read up on the artists, and see any merchandise he/she/they has/have available.  Enter the About This Artist tab.  In short - it's a bio - not to stimulating, but an update non-the less.

What else would you like to see?

The polls don't lie.  Your response has been overwhelming, and we really appreciate the feedback... in fact we thrive on it.  It has become apparent that there are few big features you're all dieing for, and so you're going to get them.  Starting today!

Remix management: If you log into your artist profile you now have the the ability to edit and delete previously posted mixes.  We've also added a new option for those of you who want to upload your mix for feedback and comments, but don't want to compete in the contest.  If you don't want your mix to be considered for voting just uncheck the contest eligbible box.

We've heard your cries for a different voting system and have decided that based on what the community wants FiXT will narrow down the top 20 mixes for the next contest and see if it works as well in practice as it sounds on paper.  Each user will recieve three... not one... votes as well.  We'll be testing out a new 3rd party voting system and will be relying on your feedback to make sure it's what's best for the community.

I'm proud to announce and introduce to all site members the addition of a new Web Admin/Coder for FiXT Remix. Please welcome Luke Dawson to the FiXT Remix team! 

Luke has been working with FiXT for 2 years doing various coding/database/accounting work on the FIXT Store and has now joined the FiXT Remix team. 

Luke is responsible for the following updates just posted today:

Remix Pages:
• Added numerical listing of average rating value and total # of ratings that a mix has received. (ie - 3.25 avg | 24 ratings)

• Made the icon/image of a remix linkable to the remix page

• Made the Name of the Remixer in the "Submitted by 'Remixer'" area linkable to the artist profile for that remixer.
