FiXT Remix

We have just launched a new Sponsors page to feature all the companies who are supporting FiXT Remix with sponsorship & prize donations. We have just updated both the rating and voting systems.  

We know there have been some concerns about both of these systems in the past, and we wanted to be sure you knew... we WERE listening to your feedback on the site and in the forums and figuring out the best course of action.  

Here's what we've come up with...

(As always your feedback is important to us  Please let us know how you feel about these updates, and what you think we can do to improve the process).

Rating: 

Added additional stops to make sure cheaters ratings don't make it through.  

What's important to remember about rating (this goes for those of you who are trying to cheat the system as well), is that the ratings do not weigh into our selection of the Top 20... AT ALL!  and therefore mean absolutely nothing in regards to the outcome of the contest. (if you try to cheat, you're wasting your time).  Think of a rating as a numerical comment.  That's it.  

Voting:

Poll Daddy is a great service, but we know it wasn't an IDEAL voting solution.  We've been working on a voting system to help you narrow the Top 20, and we think we've come up with something.

The Squaurehead "Idiot" contest will be the first to use this new voting system, so after you finish reading this post click here and check things out for yourself.

 Here's what we've got for you:

This new player/vote combination lets you browse the top 20 and then select your top 3 mixes by clicking the vote button (note: vote button is not displayed in the image above and only appears if you are logged in and have not exercised all 3 of the votes you are alloted each contest).

We're hoping this will alleviate any concerns we've had in the past, and will make choosing the top 20 much simpler for you! 

In addition we've beefed up security, which means 1 more step for you in the form of an email confirmation, but also means you can sleep sound at night knowing that no-one's out there voting for their own mix (at least not any more than you voted for yours ; ) ).

The new rules look like this:

1. Listen to the Top 20
2. Carefully choose the mix you like
3. Make sure you're a registerd user and are logged in.
4. Press the "Vote" button
5. Check your EMAIL
6. Follow the confirmation link
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 (3x's total)

NEW: Added genre browsing functionality to the contest pages. 

Feeling extra Drum 'n' Bass today?  You can now filter mixes to match your mood.

Last week we updated the genre browsing system to include... well we didn't have one before, so I guess we created one.  

This week we've got something bigger.  You've all been asking for a user/artist messaging system.  Well we're releasing the beta and would love your help to test it!

Login to your account and check your inboxes.  You should all have a message.  Please reply with your feedback and let us know what you want in the future.  Play around and leave my inbox full of ideas.  That's what I'm here for.  

Browse your favorite artists and send them messages.  Just click the "Message This Artist" Link.

A few quick site updates we thought everyone should see and judge.  Meaning we want your input. 

A list of artists wasn't ideal, so was we transition from the old to the new we've included a sneak peak of some of our ideas.  Tell us what you want to see.  What would help you browse more easily.  Highest rated mixes?  Top rated artists?  A comments feed?  Let us know.  

 We're also putting these little twitter widgets on the artist and remix pages so you can see how many times we've tweeted about you or your mix.
