The FiXT Remix Community is home to a new breed of artists, producers and musicians that are making their stamp in the industry through the art of the remix. While a remix in itself is nothing new, the process by which these remixers are coming together to be a part of something bigger than themselves is something totally fresh. A new playing field of collaboration, sharing, and audio experimentation is taking place, from public competitions to private 'invite-only' remix opportunities, and the response to FiXT Remix from both industry sponsors and contest participants has been an overwhelming success.
FiXT Remix is a brainchild of Klayton, the artist, producer, programmer, performer, songwriter and remixer known as Celldweller. The remix competition and open-source attitude behind FiXT Remix started in 2000 at MP3.com, long before many of today's mainstream artists and social networks began their own open calls for community remixes. Taking one evolutionary step at a time, the name and branding of this remix experience has progressed from the 'Celldweller Remix Competition' and the "Take It & Break It" series into what we know today as FiXT Remix.
